Texas Holdem Advanced Tips
By: Benny King
Texas holdem is a highly charged game, with so few cards available and with the few cards that Aare in play open to use by any player, it falls to the player to utilise and maximise every advantage and possible benefit that they may have. Whilst this may at first sight seem to be contrary to every poker guideline you have been taught, it is a good idea during the course of a texas hold em game to be caught occasionally whilst bluffing. In so doing so, you lure your opponents into a false sense of security, and it gives you credibility. In other words, you can sacrifice losing out on small pots and establish a false pattern to confuse your opponents, in order to secure access to the bigger wins.
Before the flop (when the 3 community cards are dealt, ready for play by any player currently in the game) make sure to quickly play an press your advantage for pairs of high cards you may have, this paves the way to a much bigger stake in the pot both in real terms that more money is actually put into the pot, but also that players will be more inclined to fold. This will allow you to eliminate the competition, and not worry as much about a lucky flop that snatches that crucial win away from you. The reverse of all this is true as well, if you have weak cards, then play cautiously, if you don’t get a good flop, and are unable to pair up a decent hand, then don’t be shy about folding. This will allow you to keep some cash in reserve for the bigger stakes, and bigger pots. This will also give you more time to concentrate on the mannerisms of your opponents as well.
