Texas Hold'em Tips
By: Benny King
Whilst poker is a fickle mistress, governed by a huge range of different and often times competing factors, texas holdem is even more chaotic and unpredictable making it nigh on impossible to create or impose a rigid strategy that can be universally applied all the time. At best, we can only have general strategies and techniques that will give some degree of success. In Texas Hold En, the likelihood of getting pairs are extremely limited, even when you do acquire them, they will not square so neatly with the flop as you may like, so this means that generally either people will cave in and fold or they will bluff their way, holding out for a degree of limited success. Pay attention to the number of players currently playing, if it less than 6, then you will find that the instances of bluffing increase rather dramatically. The type of texas hold em you play will also directly impinge on your strategy, in a game of no limit hold em, players are more inclined to make use of large(r) bets in a ploy to deter and intimidate other players into folding their hand.
This is a strategy all but totally eliminated from fixed limit texas hold em because there is a ceiling of which a person can place a bet and as a general rule of thumb, regardless of the type of Hold EM you are playing, make sure that your bankroll is a solid amount, much higher than the minimum buy in amount required. The reason for this (and especially within no limit pot games) is that if you have a small bankroll then the other players will try and muscle you out by placing large bets, You never want to let the amount of money you have scare you away from a pot you think you will win.
